We have just received word that our very own Pearse Flynn caught the first reported Blue Shark this year. Pearse was out on the Rebecca C, off the coast of Ballycotton, in the capable hands of skipper Derek Schwartau when he landed the decent Blue shark at 11.30am on Friday morning. After a quick photo the Blue, estimated at about 70lb, was safely released.
Not long after releasing the shark and leaving the drift the crew went on to catch some great ling and pollack and hake. A powerful day’s fishing indeed.
